There are a lot of ways to help add a visual impact to your photos. Beyond the technical challenges of good lighting and focus though, the big tool is composition. Within composition there are many types of tools you can use to amp up your photos (Oh help me, I actually typed a buzzword. My deepest apologies.) Leading lines are an often talked about tool but far too often they are only talked about as big honking lines that slap you across the face when you look at the photo. Railroad tracks, railroad tracks, and more blasted railroad tracks. YES, these are leading lines but they aren’t the only leading lines. There are many types of leading lines and many of them are subtle in appearance but strong in purpose. Check out my latest free to read photography lesson for all the details on how to use leading lines in photography.
